Wastewater Systems Lead Operator

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • To lead, assign, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing wastewater   treatment plant and collection system maintenance and repair services; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility; to include all facets of wastewater operations.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to all individuals by demonstrating a willingness to be attentive, understanding and responsive, fair, courteous and respectful, and to actively participate in maintaining a positive customer service environment.
  • Participate with the Wastewater Supervisor to provide and coordinate staff training; motivate and provide input to evaluate staff performance; work with employees to correct deficiencies; develop goals and schedule work assignments.
  • Ensure the adherence to District, departmental and safety policies and procedures by personnel. conduct training sessions with employees regarding safety, equipment operations procedures, and related topics.
  • Inspect work sites before, during, and after completion of work assignments; ensure work is completed in a satisfactory and thorough manner.  
  • This position is on-call on a rotating basis.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Possess a valid Colorado driver's license preferably a CDL Class “A” with tanker endorsement
  • Minimum of five years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of a wastewater treatment facility and collection system.
  • Must possess a minimum of a Colorado Wastewater Operator "A" certification and Class “4” Collections certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • When on-call you must have the ability to respond to calls within 30 minutes

    • a full calendar week (5-7 days) is compensated at 10 hours straight time pay/week.
    • a less than full calendar week (4 days or less) is compensated at 5 hours straight time pay/week.
  • Increase of 5% for each higher level of certification obtained.  An incentive of a .50 per hour raise is given for each additional license obtained.
  • Merit Increases of up to 7%.

Hiring Range

Rate of pay depends on knowledge, skills and abilities. Salary for this position ranges from $38.93 to $53.66 per hour (DOE).
